June Monthly Blog
June is bustin’ out all over…
Happy June 1st everyone! We spent the first morning of June making a recipe that I saw on Tik Tok. I’m so good with my rapid finger pressing on Amazon Kindle, but Tik Tok is not my forte. As a result I lost the Tik Tok entry as soon as I saw it. Instead I kept telling Diana that I think that I remember that we do this first and then the next step and maybe the oven is at this temperature, at least I think so. It’s a recipe with courgettis, puff pastry, basil, and ricotta cheese. I wanted to try it out for our in person committee for the next book club meeting on June 22nd. In the end it turned out to be delicious so it’s on for the 22nd. However, it so disturbed Barnaby our dog that he needed immediate treat treats. He’ll act stressed for no reason just to get special attention and treat treats. We are such softies!
In addition to recipes we’ve been gardening. My tomato plant (just the one-- I didn’t believe that it would grow so didn’t want to vest too much energy into the whole vegetable and fruit idea) is suddenly shooting up. By next weekend I’ll have to use those support thingies to hold it up and then I’ll have to get that trellis thing for the plant. It’s quite amazing. Also, our lemon tree that I planted not long ago is budding and has one extremely small little beginning of a lemon. I know that a good wind will blow it off the branch because the tree isn’t that sturdy yet, but how fun to see it now. Hopefully the blueberry bush will begin to bud soon. June is full of hope.
Don’t forget that Misty Simon is coming to speak to us on the 22nd. She has written so many novels that when Tahlia and I suggested that you choose one to read for the event we knew that we were giving you a lot from which to choose. Come and spend an hour with us. Misty is fun. She’s been to one of our meetings before (about 2 years ago) and everyone thought that she was wonderful.
We had an interview with Anna A. Armstrong the other day. That was a great hour also. We’re putting the interview on our Meetup page as well as on the blog so that you can hear what a delight the author is. She wrote the Fitzwilliam Morris Family series and now has the Flora French series out (we read Corpse in the Chard). You can also find her on Instagram at ‘thecotswoldwriter’. She also does the best recipes and will send you the recipe if you follow and message her. Anna is charming. Tahlia and I plan to do more of these interviews with authors, so stay tuned!
