Bath, England, 1890. A mystery author under suspicion. A murder that refuses to stay fictional.

Days later, he appears uninvited at her home — and is soon discovered dead in her library, stabbed through the chest. With the police quick to assume her guilt, Lady Amy is forced to investigate the crime herself.
Teaming up with Lord William Wethington, a fellow member of the Bath Mystery Book Club, she uncovers a growing list of suspects, each with reason to wish the victim harm. As secrets surface and motives multiply, Lady Amy must solve the case before she is condemned for a crime she did not commit.
Join us to discuss amateur sleuthing, reputation and gendered suspicion, and how crime fiction reflects the social constraints of Victorian England.
