‍ ‍ Reading a Cozy Mystery

Dear Cozy Mystery Book Readers,

Happy May and happy birthday to May celebrants! 🎂I’m celebrating my single tomato plant that has no idea that I’m a very bad plant parent. It continues to produce cherry tomatoes that are sweet and a glorious red. I should name the little tiger and talk to it, but I don’t want to deviate from my usual ignoring the plant since it seems to thrive anyway.

Landis Wade visited us for our last meeting. What a wonderful meeting! Landis gave us so much insight into Charlotte’s history. I really had no idea that there was a gold rush in North Carolina that preceded the one in California. I teased him and said that was probably because there’s a song associated with the California gold rush and that he should write one for North Carolina’s. It was the smoothest, most informative, and fun author visit that we’ve had in a long while. Our participants got to ask questions about his writing process and the novel Deadly Gold Rush. All and all it was a good time.

By now you must have noticed that we changed the dates of our emails to you. The Newsletter is now emailed on the first of each month. This is so that you don’t miss an event that comes at the beginning of the month. My blog is published on the tenth of the month. The book reviews are now a separate item and published on the fifteenth of the month. We tried it out last month and received a bit of feedback that the change of dates worked so we’ll be continuing that. In addition, if you’d like to send a brief mystery book review to Tahlia and me, we’ll be delighted to publish it on the book review page. I know that all of you read many more books than only the ones we have for our meetings. You can email us at acozydeath@yahoo.com.

Next month we’re discussing Mastering the Art of French Murder by Colleen Cambridge. You’ll love our visit to Le Cordon Bleu and postwar Paris with Tabitha Knight and Julia Child. I still try to cook like Julia and have yet to master the art of making a good mayonnaise without resorting to unscrewing the top from Best Mayonnaise! The book is fiction, but the descriptions of Paris are historically accurate. You’ll enjoy the book and the mystery. Zoom in and spend an hour of fun with us. We’ll discuss the book and play a game with prizes for the winners. Our meeting is May 24th at 2:00 pm Pacific, 5:00 pm Eastern.  Put it on your calendar. It’s Memorial Day Weekend, but you can spare an hour to have a bit of cozy fun. I can’t wait to see you there!

The very best to all of you cozy mystery readers,

Karin
