August Monthly Blog

August Monthly Blog

It’s August and the month of Departure from Meetup!  I feel a sense of relief and great joy. The relief is that Tahlia and I can keep our club a free membership. I simply couldn’t feature charging members to enjoy each other’s company while discussing cozy mysteries.

Meetup charges a considerable fee to organizers for the use of their platform and suggests assessing members of clubs. Therefore, we decided to direct our club to our website for information about the monthly book, a summary of our monthly discussion, and our meeting times and dates. We are feeling great joy because we’re excited with our club’s growth and the change!!! Look for us at www.acozydeath.com and join through the website.

On a personal note: August is also the beginning of the heat of summer. The doctor reminds me all of the time that I have to drink more water especially when it’s hot, but I have mostly failed the suggestion. I know it’s for my benefit, but I find it so boring to drink copious glasses of water. Lately I’ve been setting two filled glasses on my desk or the dining room table, wherever I’m working. It tricks me into drinking two glasses of water at a time making it easier to achieve eight glasses of the liquid. Whoa! What a whiner I’ve become. Do any of you have a trick to make water more interesting? Please let me know. I’ll try it and let you know if it worked for me.

I’ve finished writing chapter 11 in my new book, Spell Death (a working title). I have approximately 28 more chapters to go. It’s becoming more fun as I make believe I’m planning a party to introduce Ron’s daughters to Alene. Maybe I should have been a party planner. Then there’s the main plot in which there’s an ugly skeleton. Major yuck! I’m doing research on forensic methods and how the teams work within the Los Angeles Police Department. I’m giving myself a time goal of mid-September to finish. There – I’ve made my personal challenge public, so I have to meet it. On my mark, get set, go.

While I have the writing race going, I also thought that it’s time to improve our website with some additions. Tahlia and I spoke about this and figure that we might add puzzles or coloring pages. I like both, but we looked over other book centered websites to see what they have on them. Of course each website includes a bit of information about a particular book. Some are outright summaries and sales offers of the website creator’s newest book, and others focus on reviews of currently published mystery novels. Many have recipes or puzzles or contests, and coloring pages. Do you have an opinion of what you’d like on a book website? Let us know. Tahlia and I want to make this website feature items that you enjoy.

See you for our next meeting: August 24th.
