Dear Cozy Book Readers,

                  Our March meeting was splendid. If you couldn’t attend, we missed you. Welcome to our new member, Veronique! We all discussed our March book Death in Brittany by Jean-Luc Bennelac. The group agreed that the author took us for an amazing travel experience in Brittany. As it turned out none of us had visited Brittany. Now we all want to go there and sample each of the wines mentioned in the novel. Yum!

                  After discussing the novel we got off on a tangent and ended up talking about the Appalachian area of the United States. I can’t even remember how we got to that topic, but how fun. This led to talking about folktales from the Appalachian area, and I shared the story of Talley Po with the group. I probably should have saved the story for the Halloween time, which is when I used to tell it to my elementary students. It’s a spooky tale. Finally we got to our game.

                  We played Hangman to round off our meeting. All of the words came from our Death in Brittany novel. We had three winners, Georgina, Clark, and Jane. Prizes are on their way.

                  Our next meeting is April 26. This meeting is an extra special one. We’re delighted to have Landis Wade visit us. His newest book is Deadly Gold Rush, but feel free to read any of his books for the meeting. He’ll be talking about the interesting history that whet his appetite to write the new novel. It’s the second in his An Indie Retirement Mystery series. I love this concept. Before, when we had Landis visit us, he talked about the first book in his proposed series, Deadly Declaration. I fell in love with the description of the retirement community and actually looked for it. I had visions of me living next door to one of the characters in the novel. Oh my, Landis had fictionalized the community and I can’t move there. However, good news, Landis is planning to continue his series so a girl can make believe!
